PROGRAMS

CHILD SPONSORSHIP

​​Hundreds of children aged 1 day old to 18 years have lost their parents and loved ones in the Chiefdom and need love and care. These children are orphaned by the Ebola outbreak and don't have families anymore to take care of them. NECS is looking for concerned and caring families to sponsor any child. Sponsorship will go toward meeting their education and living condition either monthly or yearly. Reports for sponsorship will be emailed every month on the use of funds.

VOLUNTEER AND INTERNSHIP

 

​Volunteers and Interns are needed to work in different capacites and fields in the chiefdom to meet the need of the children and their communities. Interested people who want to have a taste and a challenge of Sierra Leone culture and environment, can visit many cultural places in Sierra Leone and share his/her own experiences with communities. Such period of work takes 1 week to 3 months, and it can be extended through out the year. Contact us if interested.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING

AND EDUCATION

 

Children in this learning center are giving training in life-skills and techniques for economic and self empowerment in the following fields:

Tailoring, carpentry,

Eelectrical,

Gardening,

Shoe making, Masonry and how to manage their small scale business. NECS needs funding to train over 360 children and youths affected in vocational skills to gain meaningful employment.

NON-FORMAL PRIMARY EDUCATION

 

Involves training of children that has missed out of formal education and has no support in continuing formal education.

Children in this program will be provided with effective learning in Basic Numeracy, Basic Literacy, Pre-Vocational Studies, Hygiene education to catch up with formal education.

 

WATER WELLS REPAIRING​

​

Over 300 water wells are damaged and lie waste in this chiefdom. The communities go far distance to fetch water for drinking and cooking. Constructing new wells are very costly than repairing an old one.

NECS has a trained crew that can maintenance every broken hand pump and also trained the community youths in how to take care of their wells and repairs any damaged wells. Funds and support are needed to repairing 100 wells by the 2020.

​SCHOOL TO SCHOOL PROGRAM

​

NECS is unting all schools in the cheifdoms with international schools, to exchange ideas, culture and skills.

 

Interested schools are welcome to apply for such partnership.

AGRICULTURE

NECS has started school backyard gardens and support Manjawor Farmers Association's farming activities such as Rice, Groundnut, livestock and Pineapple gardening, with support from the US Embassy, Freetown
